Beautiful setting and outstanding sculptures. The story of the bison is both sad and compelling. If you are visiting in the Deadwood area it is well worth a visit.
Authentic artifacts and background movie make this a rewarding visit. Very reasonable.
Billy was a fantastic teacher at the Tatanka Story of Bison today. Extremely professional, open to answering any question no matter what it is to help us understand his culture even more.
I'm from Australia so I didn't have much knowledge on America's indigionous communities before this, but the beautiful artifacts mixed with Billy's lecture helped me walk away with a great understanding.
After a 3 minute lecture on how we could miss this sign, we walked out. We just wanted to come learn about the history of buffalos and not how stupid we are for missing a sign.
We enjoyed our visit to the center, especially the interpretive presentation by "Billy". The artwork and displays are beautiful. The bronze sculptures of the bison and the Native American riders were breathtaking. When we think of South Dakota, we will always remember our rainy day adventure at Tatanka.
Would recommend to anyone to make a stop here.
We were so excited to see this museum, but when we got there, the front desk woman was so rude, we walked out. It was all over me bringing in my purse and how we could miss a sign that "is clear to them" that purses aren't allowed.
