I didn't have a good experience.. no phone service, no WiFi that I could find. They told me they have it but it was very poor. No TV at all. Restaurant was hot and no one seemed to care. We had to leave because of a serious illness in our family so we had to leave early. They made us pay the additional 4 days, no refund. Lady seemed happy to give me that news. Never going back
If you don't like atvs, I suggest you stay somewhere else. They run those things day and most of the night. It would be a nice place if weren't for that.
Visited at end of September 2017 was incredible! Staff was excellent, cell service was the best but i didn't go there to talk on the phone. My service from illinois doesn't cover that area very good not there fault. Vacation is about leaving your everyday things behind. We trailered our atvs from Illinois to the black hills and it was an amazing experience. Free as a bird not a care in the world. It was the most relaxing time ive had in a long time. Trails were right there at Steelwheel. Great stay in our cabin, showers were easy accessible and the staff was great. This will be a once a year trip now. Our buddy Drew didn't make the trip, we made sure he regretted it by endless texts and pictures Thank you to all the people at Steelwheel for a great experience! Merica!
An exceptionally clean and well run campground that gives you that "family" feeling. All hookups work perfect. Our AT&T worked fine here. The campground WiFi is adequate. They offer a Trading Post store and good spacing on all sites. They are quite popular so reservations are recommended. Be sure to check out the Virtual 360 tour on Google Maps that we posted of this location. We will be back when in the area.
Manager is a real ass pulled in on my bike because of the down poor was told by the manager that if I wasn't getting gas I'd have to move out from under the awning. After I moved I noticed that he was talking to his buddies that he let park there and they had never bought gas either. A real gem
